Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a Vascular Access Registered Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this patient-centered role, the Vascular Access RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, insertion, and maintenance of vascular access devices for patients across a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. Working as a clinical expert in vascular access, this nurse conducts comprehensive patient assessments, selects appropriate vascular access devices based on diagnosis, treatment plan, and vein health, and performs ultrasound-guided peripheral IV insertions, midline placements, and care of central venous catheters and PICC lines in accordance with evidence-based standards and hospital policies. The Vascular Access RN collaborates closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, bedside nurses, pharmacists, and other members of the care team to ensure safe, timely, and effective vascular access that supports optimal therapeutic outcomes and patient comfort. This position requires meticulous attention to infection prevention practices, including strict adherence to aseptic technique, dressing change protocols, line maintenance bundles, and timely removal of unnecessary lines to reduce catheter-related bloodstream infections. The nurse provides patient and family education on vascular access care, collaborates in the development and implementation of vascular access protocols, participates in quality improvement initiatives, and contributes to staff education regarding best practices in line insertion, maintenance, and complication recognition.
