Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a Vascular Access Registered Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide specialized, patient-centered vascular access care across a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings, supporting our mission to improve the health and wellness of the community through advanced medical services and compassionate care. The Vascular Access RN is responsible for assessing patients’ vascular access needs, selecting the most appropriate device, and performing safe insertion and ongoing management of peripheral IVs, peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), midlines, and other central venous access devices in accordance with evidence-based practice and hospital policy. You will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, bedside nurses, and ancillary staff to plan and coordinate vascular access services, minimizing complications and improving patient comfort and outcomes. Key aspects of this role include comprehensive patient and family education on device care, infection-prevention strategies, and signs of complications, as well as meticulous documentation of all vascular access procedures, assessments, and interventions in the electronic health record. The Vascular Access RN will utilize ultrasound guidance and other advanced technologies to optimize line placement, troubleshoot malfunctioning lines, and respond to consults in a timely, professional manner. You will participate in quality improvement initiatives related to vascular access, infection control, and device utilization, helping to develop and reinforce best practices and clinical protocols. This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent procedural skills, and the ability to work autonomously while thriving in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment that emphasizes teamwork, respect, and professional growth.
