Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Marki Microwave is seeking a RF Test Engineer 1 to join our engineering team supporting the development and testing of industry-leading RF and microwave components. This entry-level engineering role is ideal for recent graduates or candidates with up to two years of experience who are eager to build foundational skills in RF test engineering, instrumentation control, and data-driven test workflows.

In this role, you will work under the guidance of senior test engineers to help build and maintain automated test frameworks, instrument-control software, and reporting tools that ensure the performance and reliability of our products. You will gain hands-on experience with modern RF test equipment, collaborate across design, NPI, and manufacturing teams, and develop the technical foundation needed to grow into independent test ownership roles.

This role will require access to access information controlled under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR, 15 CFR §§ 730-780),and likely the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR, 22 CFR §§ 120-130), and so applicants for this position must be one of a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or other Protected Individual (as defined under 8 USC § 1324b(a)(3)).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the development and execution of RF test plans under the direction of senior engineers, supporting product validation from prototype through production.
  • Support the configuration and operation of RF test equipment including vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, oscilloscopes, and related instrumentation.
  • Assist in RF component characterization activities including S-parameters, noise figure, conversion loss, power compression, and related measurements with guidance from experienced engineers.
  • Contribute to the design, build, and maintenance of RF test setups, fixtures, and automated test stations used for engineering characterization and production testing.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools to control test equipment, collect measurement data, and support RF testing workflows under the direction of senior engineers.
  • Troubleshoot test and measurement issues including equipment setup, calibration, and test conditions to help ensure accurate and repeatable measurements. Escalate complex issues to senior engineers.
  • Build data-acquisition and post-processing tools for RF datasets, including plotting, statistical summaries, and automated report generation (PDF, CSV, or database formatting).
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities including data collection for datasheet parameters, validation testing, and test documentation.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of test databases, analysis tools, and internal utilities used to organize RF measurement data.
  • Document test procedures, measurement setups, and test station configurations as directed.
  • Promote an ethics-based business culture in the organization.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. RF coursework or lab experience is a strong plus.
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in test engineering, hardware validation, or related technical roles. Internship or co-op experience counts.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Hands-on proficiency with Python for scripting and data analysis; working knowledge of C, relational databases, and SQL queries.
  • Experience with controlling test equipment using SCPI, LAN, or USB communication protocols.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks with guidance; generate and analyze data to meet project timelines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; works effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Commitment to a hands-on approach and willingness to learn in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Exposure to product development, NPI, or manufacturing engineering environments.

RF and Measurement

  • Basic understanding of RF and microwave measurement concepts including S-parameters, gain, noise, and signal integrity.
  • Hands-on experience with RF and electronic test equipment (network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, power meter, etc.) through academic labs, internships, or prior roles.
  • Familiarity with standard RF test equipment and measurement setups; ability to operate instrumentation under guidance.
  • Exposure to calibration techniques and measurement best practices for high-frequency devices.

Software and Automation

  • Working knowledge of Python for instrument control, data collection, and basic automation scripting.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., pandas, matplotlib, or similar).
  • Awareness of version control practices (e.g., Git) and code documentation standards.

Analysis and Data

  • Ability to perform basic statistical analysis on RF measurement data under guidance.
  • Familiarity with database concepts and data organization for test records.
  • Interest in statistical process concepts (Cp/Cpk, yield analysis, correlation) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts and debugging practices.
  • Interest in automation, data-driven engineering, or AI-assisted analysis workflows
