Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a Nurse Educator Progressive Care to support the clinical development and ongoing education of nursing staff within our Progressive Care environment in the Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, the Nurse Educator Progressive Care functions as an expert clinician, educator, and resource, partnering closely with nursing leadership and frontline nurses to enhance patient outcomes, promote evidence-based practice, and foster a culture of continuous learning. The Nurse Educator designs, implements, and evaluates orientation and competency programs for new and existing Progressive Care nurses, including developing educational materials, conducting skills labs, coordinating simulation-based training, and facilitating bedside teaching. This position collaborates with interprofessional team members to identify learning needs, integrate new clinical guidelines, and support quality and safety initiatives specific to the progressive care population, such as early detection of deterioration, hemodynamic monitoring, titration of ordered therapies, and complex discharge planning. The Nurse Educator Progressive Care also mentors preceptors, supports professional certification, and provides coaching to staff on clinical decision-making, critical thinking, and the use of technology and documentation systems. As part of Mission Health’s collaborative culture, the Nurse Educator actively participates in shared governance councils, contributes to policy and protocol development, and helps lead performance-improvement projects aligned with organizational goals. The role requires strong clinical expertise in progressive or step-down care, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to engage adult learners with varying levels of experience. Candidates should be self-directed, organized, and comfortable balancing classroom, unit-based, and virtual education. This Nurse Educator role represents an opportunity to influence practice at the bedside while supporting nurses in delivering exceptional, patient-centered care and advancing their professional growth within a respected, community-focused healthcare system.
