Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a Nurse Educator – Medical Surgical to support our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will serve as a clinical expert, instructor, and mentor for medical-surgical nursing staff, promoting high-quality, evidence-based care in a patient-centered environment. The Nurse Educator collaborates closely with nursing leadership, bedside nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to assess educational needs, develop and deliver orientation and ongoing competency programs, and ensure that staff are well prepared to care for diverse adult and geriatric patient populations on medical-surgical units. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and evaluating educational curricula, skills labs, simulations, and in-service training that reinforce current clinical standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements. You will provide one-on-one coaching and real-time clinical support at the bedside, assisting nurses in applying best practices in assessment, care planning, medication administration, and patient and family education. The Nurse Educator actively participates in quality improvement initiatives, using outcome data, incident reports, and feedback from patients and staff to identify learning gaps and implement targeted education that enhances patient safety, clinical outcomes, and staff engagement. This position also contributes to onboarding new hires and transitioning nurses, supports certification preparation, and encourages professional development through mentoring, role modeling, and promoting a culture of lifelong learning.
