Department of Corrections is currently seeking highly qualified candidates to fill an
LTGF Counselor 1G (Counselor 1G) position, grade
G18 in the
Behavioral Health and Wellness Services Division .
This is a full-time temporary Limited Term Grant Funded (LTGF) position with benefits. About the Position This is an entry-level professional position providing counseling treatment interventions with offenders in a correctional facility. The incumbents selected for this position will facilitate both individual and group counseling sessions and provide support to clients who are struggling with substance use disorders (SUDs) and mental health illnesses. They will gather in-depth psycho-social histories that capture clients' backgrounds, experiences, and current challenges to create treatment plans. Additionally, incumbents will create thorough needs assessments identifying each client's specific requirements and goals. The incumbents will maintain accurate and detailed client files to ensure adequate ongoing support and compliance with legal standards.
Please note - The posted salary represents the position's maximum budgeted earning potential. This is a Limited-Term Grant Funded full-time contractual position.
About the Agency The Prince George's County Department of Corrections provides a safe, secure and humane environment for pre-trial and sentenced offenders. We also provide rehabilitative programs to inmates such as education, juvenile services, religious services, domestic violence, barber styling school, nail technician, women's empowerment, substance abuse drug treatment, and community re-entry.
Examples of Work - Conduct comprehensive screenings and assessments on clients entering treatment to determine appropriate services.
- Implement appropriate therapeutic interventions for identified areas of concern.
- Facilitate weekly evidence-based groups utilizing the group curriculum.
- Provide individual counseling to clients in need of therapeutic and supportive services on caseload.
- Update the client's treatment plans every 30 days. Develop, access, and maintain resources to assist with clients' pre- and post-release plans.
- Maintain ongoing contact with a caseload of approximately 25 clients.
- Maintain appropriate HIPAA-compliant electronic health records and case files for all clinical cases.
- Maintain accurate up-to-date records to support statistics. Submits weekly and monthly statistics as required.
- Participate in weekly individual clinical supervision and monthly staff meetings with the Clinical Coordinator.
- Complete all required continuing education units to maintain a professional license or certification.
- Willingly and conscientiously adhere to the established County Employment Code of Ethics, the ACA codes of ethics, and to diligently and responsibly uphold the County's high standard of customer service.
- Willingly and cooperatively perform tasks and duties assigned, which may not be specifically listed in this contract, but are within the occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: - Master's degree from an accredited College or University in Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field; or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology.
- One (1) year of full-time, post-licensure clinical experience providing professional mental health counseling services.
