Scheck Hillel Community School, located in North Miami Beach, Florida, is a large private school. The school serves over 1,300 students in PK–T through 12th grade and is known for its rigorous dual curriculum program and commitment to excellence. Summary The High School computer science Teacher will plan, organize, and implement the Scheck Hillel instructional program in our High School. In addition, they will guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their individual academic and social‑emotional potential. This position is designed to implement and realize the Scheck Hillel educational vision for students and faculty. Students Scheck Hillel students take ownership of their learning to persevere and achieve. Students are encouraged to use all learning styles, engage in collaboration, reflection, and active communication. They articulate learning goals and their relevance to current and future success. Faculty Scheck Hillel faculty plan in collaborative teams where maximizing student achievement and personal growth are the priority. Learning targets and success criteria are clarified, refined and communicated to guide personalized instruction. Faculty support rigorous learning expectations and engaging experiences to maximize achievement, explore passions and foster identity. Responsibilities Create a positive, student‑centered and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and encourages student engagement. Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning to meet the needs of all learners. Communicate clear learning targets and success criteria to students. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction and develop formative and summative assessments in accordance with established procedures. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies. Manage student behavior in the classroom to facilitate learning. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school. Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development as required by laws and school policies. Communicate consistently and in a timely manner with parents about their child’s academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements. Maintain safety and security of the students in the classroom and common school areas. Supervise students at various school functions such as field and overnight trips and school assemblies. Attend all parent‑teacher conferences, back‑to‑school nights, and faculty meetings. Supervise lunch and recess. Stay up-to-date on current educational trends and research to continually improve teaching practice. Facilitate office hours. Document lesson plans, assessments, and curriculum in Atlas; post materials, assignments, and grades to the school's LMS in a timely manner. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications Dedication to creating a nurturing and challenging learning environment for our students. Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a high school setting. Valid teaching certification preferred. Strong knowledge of pedagogical practices and learning theories.
