Summary of Work As an Environmental Engineer for the Air Quality Division, you will be a part of a team that protects and improves the environment through reviewing and implementing air quality policies on a variety of air quality issues.In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Reviewing and implementing rules and regulations related to the air quality program.
- Drafting and processing air pollution control permits and assist with associated air dispersion modeling.
- Evaluating air pollution control reports from a variety of air pollution sources.
- Conducting inspections on a variety of air pollution sources.
- Assisting in state implementation planning and development.
- Providing training and guidance to air quality permit staff.
- Communicating with the public, regulated community, state and federal agencies, and others regarding air pollution issues.
To succeed in this position, you must be able to interpret and explain engineering and scientific concepts, documents, policies, and regulations to stakeholders in a way that leads to compliance; enforce rules objectively, consistently, and fairly; and have work experience with databases and spreadsheets.
Minimum Qualifications Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. DEQ will not provide sponsorships.
DEQ is attempting to fill this position at the Environmental Engineer II level but reserves the right to fill the position as an Environmental Engineer I.
Environmental Engineer II requires a bachelor's degree in an engineering field and one year of related experience. A master's degree may substitute for one year of work experience. (Hiring Salary: $6,275/month depending on experience).
Environmental Engineer I requires a bachelor's degree in an engineering field. (Hiring Salary: $5,976/month depending on experience).
Experience in air quality, environmental systems or controls, or air quality regulatory experience is helpful but not required.
