Job Description As a Commercial Lines Underwriter, your role involves evaluating and deciding whether to accept, decline, or adjust commercial insurance risks for new policies, renewals, and endorsements, all while adhering to the company's underwriting philosophy. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring three days in the Richmond, VA office and two days working from home each week. What You’ll Do: Evaluate and underwrite new Commercial Lines business submissions within designated authority, focusing on complete and lower‑complexity accounts. Utilize average product knowledge in Commercial Lines, manage the renewal process including making decisions about loss recommendations, adjustments to pricing or deductibles, and non‑renewals. Review and decide on Commercial Lines endorsement requests, including reinstatement of cancellation notices for non‑payment or underwriting reasons. Review and submit Commercial Lines higher‑level risks for decision‑making to Commercial Lines Lead and Senior Underwriters. Respond to basic Claims Reports to Underwriting (CRU), and make recommendations for any actions, if needed. Communicate with marketing representatives, agency staff, and other insurance or inspection companies to gather information, provide quotes, or clarify underwriting policies. Develop and maintain positive Company/Agency relations, which may include agency travel and visitation, and attendance at various conventions/meetings (may include overnight stay). What You Bring: 2–5 years of experience with property/casualty underwriting. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail. Travel as required by business needs (estimated 10‑20%). Essential Functions: The essential functions of this position include evaluating commercial insurance risks, making underwriting decisions within authority and communicating effectively with internal and external partners. These responsibilities require prolonged computer use, strong attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication. Consistent with applicable law, reasonable accommodations will be made to support individuals with disabilities in performing the essential functions of their job provided that such accommodations do not impose an undue hardship on the business. The organization will engage in an interactive accommodation process as needed. #J-18808-Ljbffr
