Primary duties and responsibilities include maintaining a positive attitude, creating an atmosphere of friendliness and fun through flexibility and teamwork, generating a friendly atmosphere by encouraging employees to greet and speak to customers, providing prompt, courteous, and efficient service to customers, setting department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability, smiling and greeting customers in a friendly manner, assisting customers, recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, disciplining, and evaluating all department employees, inspecting signage and displays for quality and quantity of merchandise, handling and satisfying customer issues, communicating with employees regarding sales and ideas, figuring retail pricing and ensuring correct pricing, extending invoices, posting invoices, overseeing department bookkeeping procedures, analyzing weekly and monthly sales and trends, planning displays, promotions, and determining pre-orders, ensuring proper temperatures and storage procedures are maintained, understanding and troubleshooting equipment and ensuring maintenance is performed, ensuring store appearance and equipment are maintained in a consistent manner, maintaining consistent speed of service to the customer by ensuring all store-staffing requirements are met, maintaining strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress, adhering to company policies and individual store guidelines, reporting to work when scheduled and on time.
Secondary duties and responsibilities include ensuring pricing is competitive in the market area, attending meetings and seminars and participating in continuing education, filling displays and working in the sales area, unloading trucks, checking in delivered merchandise and placing product in appropriate storage area, performing departmental duties as needed, assisting in other areas of store as needed, performing other job related duties and special projects as required.
Knowledge, skills, abilities, and worker characteristics include the ability to solve practical problems, variety of variables with limited standardization, interpret instructions, do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages, compose original correspondence, interpret written work instructions, interview job applicants, follow technical manuals, and have increased contact with people.
Education and experience include high school or equivalent experience from on-the-job training and sanitation courses, and over one year of related work experience.
Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, and the ability to perform the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working conditions include frequent exposure to temperature extremes and dampness, possible equipment movement hazards from a pallet jack, electrical shock, and exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents.
Equipment used to perform job includes standard equipment used in a coffee shop environment, cash register, can opener, thermometers, knives, dishwasher, ice machine, scales, pop machine, calculator, computer, RPM, steamer, fax, copier, telephone.
Financial responsibility includes responsibility for company assets including equipment and merchandise.
Contacts include daily contact with customers, employees, suppliers/vendors, and the general public, and occasional contact with local, federal or state regulatory agencies regarding inspections.
Confidentiality includes access to confidential information including employee compensation, monthly results, quarterly inventory reports, sales and profit sheets, and warehouse pricing.
